Southeast Peninsula

St Kitts can be described as a tennis racquet-shaped island, the Frigate Bay Peninsula or commonly refereed to as the southeast peninsula is the narrow handle, stretching down towards Nevis, which connects the racquet head to the widened end of the handle to the southeast. The peninsula is unique in that it offers beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean coast; South Friars Beach on the leeward side offers calm waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling and a variety of water sports activities, while North Friars beach is on the Atlantic coast is battered by waves perfect for body surfing, and is one of the most scenic beaches on the island.  There are many beach bars on the peninsula with water sports and good food.  At the southeastern most tip of the peninsula is Cockleshell Bay, home to Reggae Beach Bar and one of the most popular beach destinations on St. Kitts.  The Spice Mill is a new beach house and restaurant with an excellent menu and fine wine.  To be sure try them both! The southeast peninsula is popular with many new island real estate projects including two new boutique hotels, Christophe Harbor, and a championship golf course.
